This kitchen remodel began with a the home owner’s vision of blue cabinetry. The space was in a dire need of a new layout to improve functionality, and the home owners were navigating two opposing design styles. This is where I come into the process.
For this remodel, we removed the peninsula and replaced it with a double-sided working island designed to accommodate two cooks comfortably. A soft curve on one corner of the island allowed us to incorporate just enough counter seating without compromising flow.
Because the kitchen footprint is modest, it was essential to create a spacious feel by keeping surfaces visually clean. We selected cabinet ready appliances for a seamless look, simple white backsplash tiles, and eliminated upper cabinetry on the window wall to allow natural light to pour in.
Next we addressed the couples two opposing styles; modern clean lines and old world charm. We started with a slim shaker cabinet door style, paired it with modern hardware, and introduced warmth with wood accents in the cabinetry. Timeless light fixtures with brass and gold leaf details added character and depth.
Additional must-haves included dedicated wine storage, a concealed charging station for devices, and motorized shades for comfort and convenience.
